After an eventful festival season, UK record label and DJ/Producer collective, Dance Regular, got together in the Welsh hills to record a mix for obey records in celebration of 5 years of the label. They bring together some of the hottest new producers in the UK Bruk/Broken-beat scene, all of which release music on the label.Assembled for the mix was Donsurf, Stickydub, Matica, Samiel and EVM128. As each DJ goes back-to-back (2 for 2) the mix builds tension, pushing and pulling you through a journey of Broken-Beats, House, UK Jazz & Soul, UK Funky, UKG, Amapiano and all things Bass. Showcasing music from the label and beyond, the mix emits the energy you would expect to feel at a Dance Regular show. We had the pleasure of working with Luca Lozano and Mr. Ho on the ‘Free Tekno’ Collection. The collection is inspired by the aesthetics and sounds of the free party scene that followed the demise of the Acid House explosion. This countercultural phenomenon transformed remote countryside locations across the UK and mainland Europe, bringing together anarchic youth subcultures driven by beats from Techno producers during the mid to late 1990s and early 2000s.Klasse Wrecks is a multi-disciplinary record label based in between Hong Kong and the U.K. co-founded by Luca Lozano and Mr. Ho. Lower Tar is the experimental techno project started by Los Angeles-based musician and visual artist, Ori Ofir, and in 2022 Billy Garcia (DJ Angeldu$t, 138) joined the project. Formed in 2016, they’ve had releases on Ascetic House, DKA, Ecstatic Recordings, Public System Recordings, and Ofir’s own L.A.U.R.A. Recs. Lower Tar is a project that explores what it means to be critical of society while still maintaining a sense of self by mixing a range of techno, electro, post-punk, and noise.This mix is a representation of everything Lower Tar was, is and will be. A true B2B between Ori and Billy creating an amalgamation of experimental, industrial, electro, and straight up techno.

At the helm of his beloved label, Marsman preaches the ‘Pinkman sound’ to congregations of devoted followers. Holding court for over ten years now, he released more than 100 records and hosted countless club nights all over the world.With over 15 years behind the decks, and the breathless release schedule he orchestrates for Pinkman and its subsidiary labels – Mindri, Broken Dreams & Charlois – Marsman has become a central figure in a close-knit scene of rough-around-the-edges DIY dance music.Marsman’s DJing can ride through uplifting synths and thunderous drum patterns that are equally suited to dark, sweat-drenched basements and cavernous industrial warehouses. But dig beneath the dirt and there’s brightness to be found, with a glossy Italo sheen never far from Marsman’s selections.Keeping clubrooms locked into groove for hours on end by meticulously building atmospheres of unease, he can pierce the tension whenever he feels the time is right with moments of hands-in-the-air euphoria. Combining euphoric disco and wave with darker, harder sounds is a trademark move from one of Rotterdam’s finest exports.And he’s done it at all the best spots the Netherlands has to offer, with appearances at Dekmantel, Garage Noord, Pip, Drift Festival and Intergalactic FM. Further afield, he played at renowned international clubs like Panorama Bar, Tresor, Khidi and FOLD.Beyond all this, he’s a founding member of cherished radio station Operator, and previously ran the sorely missed Pinkman record store in the heart of Rotterdam’s creative Schieblock, giving Marsman a well-deserved cult hero status for independent music in the harbour city and far, far beyond.

Robert Bergman, also known as ‘Chu-hi master’ in some parts of the planet, has spent well over a decade and a half collecting and playing out records. Mixing different muzique with disregard for genre or style, all the good things are good to him.   Love Letter This mix was made exclusively and exhaustively with every record I procured while visiting France in September 2023 — A pilgrimage I dreamt of for years. I set a budget and a plan to fill a carry-on luggage, I visited Bazar Musiques & Mindtrip in Marseille and Techno Import & Dizonord in Paris. I stole hours for this while my partner derivé in either city. The sounds I found so casually and generously were as much what I had specifically craved for years as new ideas I hadn’t dreamt of. The energy of these songs has carried me for months. This mix is called Love Letter not just that it is of the deepest gratitude to the culture which I reveled in during those two weeks abroad, but that these sounds have flowed with me through endless affection over the past three months: in and out of security, romance, trust in self, trust in Love; emotional oscillations, moments of ecstatic faith and the contrary; yet alas, this must be a curation of hope. Something to archive as a moment of belief and joyous risk-taking, to place in a keepsake box as a fact of a feeling. I believe Love Letters will stay true as they are stored, as much as we are surrounded by them. We give them to one another constantly. The songs herein ride upon the Love Letters I’ve shared as of late, they are themselves Love Letters I offer when I play them for others and Love Letters I receive back when I play them at home.
