Geesman is a Santa Ana native and electronic artist who is part of the GRN + GLD collective. They DJ and perform music all over the OC and LA but have an exclusive residency at the Que Sera in Long Beach the last Saturday of every month. Occasionally, they also work with other collectives like Condina Records & Rotu. Geesman credits its success to Benny Edles, also known as Dirty Merlin, the mastermind behind GRN + GLD collective. On his own, though, Geesman writes and releases his own music. His solo record NewAgeSewAge is influenced by low-fi house music which he discovered at an illegal warehouse party in Los Angeles. NewAgeSewAge is equal parts electronic, jazzy, and even orchestral and is influenced by Ross From Friends, Glenn Astro (who he got to remix one song from the album), Frank Ocean, and Erykah Badu. We tend to absorb everything around us in our teens and our 20s in search for our own identity. We then hold on what we recognize as our own and idiosyncrasies during what is known as the “Reminiscence Bump.” Those experiences and memories stay with us for a long time. Just like how some of us, who were obsessed with heavy metal, wore Chuck Taylor All Star high tops after listening to “Paranoid” by Black Sabbath on Bae Cheolsu’s Music Camp, fans of East Coast rap will yell… “Cash Rules Everything Around Me!” at the mere sight of that classic shade of Wu-Tang yellow.The 27TH artist featured on OBEY Records Korea is DJ Bowlcut, whom in his reminiscence bump, played his favorite tunes on RealPlayer via a DSL modem connection. He’d them record them on cassette tapes and play them back-to-back. DJ Bowlcut made his debut as a turntablist soon after and is now operating an online platform for the Korean underground scene, which brings up younger DJs to the forefront. Glenn Astro is just one pseudonym of the Berlin-based producer and DJ. Over the past years Glenn Astro has climbed from obscurity through a series of well-received releases on labels including Box Aus Holz, WotNot, Odd Socks and Big Bait. A notable appearance on Boiler Room, as well as a his own Resident Advisor podcast and several high profile remixes, also helped lift Glenn Astro into the public eye.In 2015, alongside Max Graef and Delfonic, Glenn Astro launched his own label; Money $ex Records, and also saw the release of his debut album, Throwback, on Tartelet Records. A collaborative album with Max Graef emerged in 2016 on the legendary Ninja Tune imprint. In 2017 Glenn followed up with another joint venture Mini-LP on Money $ex Records with long term high school buddy Ajnascent oriented toward the Jazz and Disco spectrum of electronic music. 2018 saw him on another collaborative full length album project with Cologne’s Hodini on the iconic R&S division Apollo Records.Read more

Los Angeles-based producer Leland Jackson's work as Ahnnu blurs the lines between abstract hip-hop and experimental ambient music, incorporating field recordings and found sounds into hazy soundscapes. Sometimes his recordings include tape-smudged beats, but others are merely suggestive of rhythm, dissolving elements of hip-hop and dance music into amorphous, cloudy tone poems. Jackson, who also produces juke/footwork under the name Cakedog and runs the Dogtropic label, initiated the Ahnnu project with a series of beat tapes in 2011. Early releases such as Couch and Prohabitat garnered acclaim and cult status, and Ahnnu's visibility increased in 2013 with the release of Battered Sphinx (NNA Tapes) and World Music (Leaving Records). Additionally, Ahnnu and D/P/I released She Was No Tame Thing, a mixtape created entirely from samples of Drake's album Nothing Was the Same. Ahnnu's second Leaving Records tape, Perception, was released in 2015, and both of his albums for the label were issued as a double LP during the same year. Family Jams, Vol. 3, a split cassette with Ohbliv, was released by Rap Vacation in 2017.
