BEYOND THE STREETS RECAP

BEYOND THE STREETS opened to it’s doors to the public Sunday, May 6th in Los Angeles. Curated by Roger Gastman, this incredible showcase features over 40,000 sq ft of paintings, sculpture, photography, installations and more from over 100 artists. It’s massive, comprehensive and offers an interesting look at the history, tools, and evolution of street art.

“I’m excited to be collaborating with Modernica on a limited edition Case Study (R) Fiberglass Shell Chair, because I’ve been a fan of that chair design and Modernica for many years. When my wife and I first moved to Los Angeles, we purchased a few of those chairs from Modernica’s store on Beverly and have used and loved them ever since. When given the opportunity to create my own custom version of this iconic chair, I chose to use the collage and patterns that have become signature motifs in my work which showcase recognizable elements of my imagery but also appeal as a nod to classic home decor pattern design. I’m excited to be a part of the Beyond The Streets show and I think this collaboration exemplifies the philosophy that artwork with origins in the streets can manifest in unexpected places.” – Shepard

OBEY Awareness - Stop The Violence

With the increase of senseless gun violence happening across the country, we felt obligated to address gun violence issues, and take a hard look at the prevalence of guns in our culture. We created a new series of OBEY Awareness shirts designed by Shepard Fairey and members of his design team at Studio Number One, to raise awareness and funds to educate and combat the problems we are seeing. We are calling this series Stop the Violence – available worldwide on May 4, 2018.

VHILS 'ANNIHILATION' SHOW OPENING RECAP

Last night was the opening reception for “ANNIHILATION”, the first Los Angeles solo show for artist Vhils (Alexandre Farto). Vhils, who hails from Portugal, creates incredible images from chiseling and other techniques playing with texture. You probably remember Shepard Fairey collaborating with Vhils on a mural in Lisbon July of last year. They also completed another collaborative mural earlier this week in Silver Lake, Los Angeles, entitled “American Dreamers”.
