VHILS 'ANNIHILATION' SHOW OPENING RECAP
Last night was the opening reception for “ANNIHILATION”, the first Los Angeles solo show for artist Vhils (Alexandre Farto). Vhils, who hails from Portugal, creates incredible images from chiseling and other techniques playing with texture. You probably remember Shepard Fairey collaborating with Vhils on a mural in Lisbon July of last year. They also completed another collaborative mural earlier this week in Silver Lake, Los Angeles, entitled “American Dreamers”.Read more

AMERICAN DREAMERS MURAL - OBEY GIANT X VHILS
Vhils and I just completed a collaborative mural titled “American Dreamers” on Mack Sennett Studios in Silver Lake, Los Angeles! My “Target Exceptions” image, in the center of the mural, addresses the challenges of both visiting and becoming a resident of the United States, for many people. As it turns out, there are various target criteria that make a person an ideal candidate to immigrate, but most people who might long to fulfill the “American Dream” are exceptions to the target qualifications, especially considering the attitudes and attempted policies of the current administration.Read more

I went to the private view of the Tshirt, Cult – Culture – Subversion exhibition at the Fashion and Textile Museum in London. It was so exciting to see the private collection of Vivienne Westwood’s shirts and to see the original designs of some of my favourite artists including Keith Haring, John and Molly Dove, Barbara Kruger, and many many more.Read more

Julia Gorton & London Doomed Gallery Exhibition and Untitled Bar Talk
Julia Gorton is an artist and photographer currently living in New York. She documented the punk scene in New York during the 70’s and 80’s. Her beautiful work is a gimps into the scene at that time – as an insider. DAMAGED OPENING RECAP
Shepard Fairey’s latest show, DAMAGED, opened 11/11 in Downtown LA. Thousands converged upon the warehouse at 1650 Naud Street to view Shepard’s largest show to date, 18 months in the making. Featuring never-before-seen paintings, installations, sculptures, rare stencils and live printing provided by Aardvard Press, DAMAGED focused on themes of the current state of politics, human rights, the environmental crisis and more. It was a chance for viewers to not only see different sides of Shepard’s fine art but also get a comprehensive look at his evolution as an artist, including rare stencils and other nods to his early career.Read more
